There are 2 different type of templates in NewViews.

One is a document template, used to print checks, invoices orders and reports.
The other is a table template used to format the printout of newviews tables. This templates control the formating of the printout. (margins, centering of page, fonts , headers and footers)
When you are positioned a journal and print all or print block you are printing a table.
The only thing the template will do at that point is control the formating and not the data that is printing.
I believe this is why you say the template is ignored. You are using a document template but printing a table.

I think this is your problem

Got to the payrun screen.which you probably are on.

    Next window below select settings

You probably do not have the accrued and expense accounts set

See section 7 on this page

If you are using an invoice journal, look at the top left part of the screen you will see a space for next Ref #.

For your information, in the future if you find yourself with a proof that is out of balance. There is a tool included in NewViews to locate totalto problems.

We use this often when a customer complains that their books are out of balance.

Position yourself on the Trial balance proof or Balance sheet proof account and from the tool bar click
TOOLS > TOTALTO > ORPHAN SEARCH.
This will show any posting account that does not total to the proof account.

This may be the screen you are looking for.

In the database explorer on the left, expand accounts > payroll > canada
Then in the top blue panel select accounts “setup – all paycodes

Sorry about that . I am not able to get the link feature to work on this new forum software.

Try to copy and paste this

    http://newviews.com/nv2_manual/topics/907020050518140510.htm
    or
You can get to it by opening the online manual and
expanding PRINTING –> PRINTING TABLES –> TABLE TEMPLATES

The template that they talk about is no longer supplied. I cannot find it as far back as version 2.260.

The template only controls the formatting and not the data like other templates.

You can control whatever is in the page setup window in Excel, and the following lines

    TITLE1
    TITLE2
    TITLE3
    COLUMNTITLES
    CONTENT

Can you give more info as to what printout you are looking for on the journal. Do you mean you would like to print the details ?

The template setting, line 19 only controls the formating of the printout not the data.

See this link to the online manual

In the paycode description field enter

    Travel Time @T Hours * @R

The @T is the time/qty variable The @R is the rate

When you run the payroll it will pickup the variable and replace it with the value and place it in the description of the item .

    Hi Martin

What I was looking for is importing from excel as discribed in “importing a paylist from excel” .

Our client has a supervisor visiting job sites and is resposible for collecting hours of work for employees.

I wanted to know if there was a way to format the excel document to import to time cards instead of paylist so we do not have to re-input the daily data.

    Regards

I wish we could add pictures to these post .

In the window on the left, select the payroll that you want to print t4’s.

In the right top pane you should see a window tab bar

    Employees | Payroll | Transaction | Summary lists | ROE | Advanced | Notes

Click on “summary list” then t4’s

From the menu bar click on view, you should see install at the botton of the menu.

In the manual do a search for “T4 Summary List”, there should be about 20 result. In the result click on “T4 List”
There it show how to do this with screen shots.

Try this link. I hope it works.

You do not have to run a script anymore. It has been changed in the newer versions.

Right click on the report title bar
you should get a menu called “Report Desktop Menu”
and select > windows > private setup

You can do a search in the manual for “private” .
You will only get about 6 result.
    Select “private window setups”
It will show you the screens, and how to use it.
