The following Block commands are available on all NewViews windows and tables.
In NewViews, Blocks are used to perform the same function on a group of items (i.e. Reports, Accounts, Transactions, etc). Blocks may be used to print reports, print checks, fill in fields, print or delete transactions and a variety of other functions. Blocks do not need to be contiguous (i.e. the items do not need to be grouped together).

All | All items displayed on a document can be blocked using the Block>All commands. When the block is marked, it is displayed in reverse video (or a different color) for easy identification. Only documents can be included. To set the Block All move to the document you wish to block then select Block>All.
Start | A group of items on a document can be marked in a block using the Block>Start and Block>End commands. When a block is marked, it is displayed in reverse video (or a different color) for easy identification. Only entire lines can be included. To set the Block Start move to the first line you wish to block then select Block>Start.
End | As with Block>Start, a group of items on a document can be marked in a block using the Block>Start and Block>End commands. When a block is marked, it is displayed in reverse video (or a different color) for easy identification. Only entire lines can be included. To set the Block End move to the last line you wish to block then select Block>End.
Clear | To remove the marking from a block, you must issue the Block>Clear command.
Show | The Block>Show is used to display a block that has been hidden using the Block>Hide command.
Hide | The Block>Hide is used to hide a block that has been marked using the Block>Start, Block>End and Block>All commands. The block is still marked, but no longer is displayed in reverse video (or color). Issuing Block>Show displays the block again.
Move | Insert | The Block>Insert is used to move a marked block of items on a document to the current cursor position. The block disappears from its original position, and reappears above the line on which the cursor was positioned when the Block>Insert was issued. If you are running NV2 with Edit Safety on, then you must turn the edit safety off before issuing the Block>Insert. |
Append | The Block>Append is used to move a marked block of items to the end of the current document. The block disappears from its original position, and reappears at the end of the document.
Delete | The Block>Delete command deletes a block of items from any document. Block>Delete uses the Edit>Delete command to delete the items, therefore no item is deleted unless it can be deleted by Edit>Delete. For example, an account that has transactions cannot be deleted.
Copy | The Block>Copy command is used to copy blocks of accounts on reports or blocks of transactions on accounts. There is no limit to the number of blocks that can be saved (using the save box) with meaningful names. Copied accounts or transactions can subsequently be pasted with the Block>Paste command. In this way, accounts and transactions can be copied once and pasted as many times as required.
Paste | The Block>Paste command is used to paste (or add) accounts or transactions that have been copied with the Block>Copy command. When Block>Paste is used to paste accounts/transactions, you choose the accounts/transactions to be pasted from a pick box. When pasting accounts, you are prompted to change copied account names. The accounts are added to the setup view of the current report at the position of the cursor. When pasting transactions, you are prompted to change the transaction date. The transactions are added to the current account ledger. |
