Default Window Setups

There may be times when a user has customized a NewViews desktop, or a specific window, and would like to return it to its original configuration. This can be accomplished with the Window>Default Setup command.

Restoring the Default Window Settings for the Entire Desktop

  1. Activate the Database Explorer by clicking its title bar (i.e. the bar that reads /OBJECT) or anywhere in the window (i.e. not on a specific folder or item).

  2. Issue the command Window>Default Setup.

  3. All windows in the books will be reset and a prompt displaying the time it took for the operation to complete will appear. Click <Ok> to proceed.

  4. You should backup the workstation and books after performing a default setup. Click <Save All> to proceed.

  5. The files that have been saved will be displayed. click <Dismiss>.

NOTE: when the default windows setup for a desktop is run, any customized setups within the default setup area will be deleted and replaced with the default setup.

Restoring the Default Settings for a Specific Window (Table)

  1. Right click on the title bar of the window (table) to bring up the menu.

  2. Issue the command Window>Default Setup.

  3. When prompted, confirm that you want to replace the existing window setup with the default setup by clicking <Setup>.
