The Account History Explorer window displays a table of all history information for a specific account based on date range, resolution and representation. The basic columns displayed are explained below, followed by several examples that demonstrate different uses of the History Explorer window.
The example history below displays Perpetual account balances (i.e. the closing account balance at the end date displayed in the Period Name column).

When the View>Analysis Settings command is issued, on a "History Explorer" of a Total account, the following column setup table is displayed:
The Analysis Settings fields consist of:

4 | Resolution | | Used to determine how many rows are to be displayed. For example, if the row begin date is January 1, 2006 and the row end date is June 30, 2006, a monthly resolution would generate 6 rows. Press <F3> and the box below appears, click with the mouse to select the resolution. | ||

Below is an example showing the same account history, with the Representation changed to Periodic. In this case the Period Name column displays a begin and end date, and the number displayed is the change to the account in the period.
In the example below, the history table has been restored to expose the table of postings below. Activating a cell in the history table will display the postings that sum to the amount in the cell (in this case a single invoice for $128.81).
Another example should make this perfectly clear. Below, a Total cell is activated and three postings for July 2009 are displayed.
The example below has switched to the INVENTORY account type to demonstrate that a history table can view Quantities Only.
A History Window will respect the range of dates set for an account table cell. In the example below, a Multiple Period Analysis for sales account "Computers - Hyperion 645" shows the history for July 2009, with a daily resolution.
NOTE: Setting up the history window for one type of account does not affect other types of accounts. This enables you to have a customized history window for each type of account.
