This is a programmer's reference section that describes the format of the records expected in import files imported using the Tools>Import Records command. This section is for those responsible for exporting information from other databases and/or accounting products, i.e. usually programmers.
The Tools>Import Records command was designed for backward compatibility with the NewViews for DOS IMPORT procedure. That also means that the formats described here are somewhat tedious. They have been provided for completeness and we do not recommend you use these NV1-compatible formats to create new export/import functionality. The formats will be replaced by a more general protocol when importing is extended and generalized, but backward compatibility will be maintained.
