File

The menu command File is available on all NewViews windows, tree explorers, tables and menus.

Exit NewViews	<Alt+X> shuts NewViews down. All databases that are open are automatically saved and closed.
Save	Saves changes to disk for the current file. Although NewViews saves information to disk automatically as work is performed, for efficiency purposes the changes are saved during background processing, i.e. when NewViews is idle. NewViews may not be idle very often when many users are simultaneously making changes in a multi-user environment, and the information lost by a system crash can increase accordingly. The File>Save and File>Save All commands force all changes to disk, ensuring that they will not be lost in the event of a system crash.
Save All	Saves changes to disk for all files that are currently open. If issued anywhere on a workstation, all files you have open on that workstation are saved. If issued anywhere on a server, all files that the server currently has open, i.e. that users have open through that server, are saved. See Save above.
Backup	This saves the current NewViews file to a backup file that has an automatically generated file name. For more information see Backing Up.
Database Utilities	The NewViews database utilities consist of a number of operations that check data integrity, repair damage, improve performance by reorganizing data, and perform other miscellaneous database maintenance chores. For more information see Database Utilities.
Close	This closes the current NewViews file.
Database Utilities	Database Utilities is a unified diagnostic and repair utility. Database Utilities provides an interactive window from which operations can be run. They can also be run from a command line or batch file in order to take advantage of Windows ability to schedule tasks.
Import	This will import an external file as an attachment to the Attachments View.
Export	This will export an attachment as an external file.
