You can use Partitions and Allocations Tags to tag the transactions you wish to report on T5 slips.
T5 slips need to be prepared for various types of investment income for residents of Canada. For example interest income on bonds.
Shown above is a sample ledger from a mortgage company for a bond holder. The ledger shows activity for the year 2010. The only amount that needs to be reported on a T5 slip is the $600.00 payment on line 4.
If you select the debit view (payments) on the same ledger above for the year 2010, the payments total $5,600.00 The $5,000.00 payment on line 5 should not be included on the T5 slip; it is a partial bond redemption.
If "t5" payments are entered on a journal with the "t5" tag, they can be "selected" using the Tag setting on the T5 print prompt. In the example presented the $600.00 payment is entered on the /BANK/PAYMENT/T5 journal. When the T5 journal was created it was assigned two tags; financial and t5. The $600.00 check was originally created on the /BANK/PAYMENT/BP journal and was moved to the new T5 journal after the journal was created. See below the journal settings.
This example is presented using a Partition tag, but the same results can be achieved using an Allocation tag.
Note: The $600.00 check was originally created on the /BANK/PAYMENT/BP journal and was moved to the new T5 journal after the journal was created. To move a transaction, position on the journal field of the ledger and type the name of the new journal. Remember that transactions can only be moved to journal of the same type.
