Name/Path Formats

Accounts and reports are identified by name, to be backward compatible with the method used by the original NewViews for DOS IMPORT procedure.

A modern NewViews database is likely sub-foldered (i.e. reports have sub-reports, accounts have sub-accounts, and journals have sub-journals). These objects must be identified by a full path. Three examples are:

/REPORT/FS/BS is the path of a Balance Sheet in the Financial Statements folder of the root report.
/ACCOUNT/BANK/CANADA/CIBC
/JOURNAL/GENERAL/IMPORTS/RENT
