2016 Canadian Payroll version 109 (July 1, 2016) for NV1 has been released. This update is required by NV1 payroll users in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island.

Google and Microsoft have updated their DMARC policies in June of 2016. DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) is a regulation for email authentication that provides “proof” that an email is actually being sent from the domain name that claims to be sending it.

The authentication service helps prevent phishing and spoofing attacks by cybercriminals, but DMARC can also hinder the email marketing efforts of companies that do not comply with DMARC regulation. By not complying with DMARC, marketers are putting their email deliverability rates at risk because any message that is deemed unsafe will go to spam.

If your Email Setup in NewViews is using a gmail account as the outgoing mail server, you may be experiencing some problems. Some sample errors caused by this Google change are:

i.) “Unable to email ssl port720 error.”

ii.) “Could not send an SMTP email.”

The solution at this point is to use a non gmail/microsoft outgoing mail server. Please contact your IT department or your ISP and request the name and settings of your organizations outgoing mail server.
