Workshop Wednesdays

Workshop Wednesdays is a series of one or two hour live, remote workshops via Zoom that focus on specific topics that are frequently requested by NewViews 2 and NewViews NPH users. Pre-registration is required to reserve your seat.

Cost:

  • 1 hour workshops are $75 per attendee (plus applicable taxes)
  • 2 hour workshops are $150 per attendee (plus applicable taxes)

Navigation in NewViews 2 – 1 hour
(for NV2 Users)

This workshop is designed to give those who are new to NewViews 2 a good understanding of how to navigate a set of books using the Database Explorer and handy shortcuts. Participants will also learn how and when to access a variety of useful views for reports, journals and accounts. Topics covered include:

  • Navigating a set of books using the Database Explorer
  • Exploring reports and report views
  • Exploring journals and journal views
  • Exploring accounts, account ledger views and account history
  • Exploring information views, notes and attachments

Accounts Payable – 1 hour
(for NV2 and NewViews NPH Users)

This workshop walks NewViews 2 and NewViews for Non-Profit Housing users through the entire accounts payable cycle using NewViews. Topics covered include:

  • Adding supplier accounts
  • Entering purchase invoices
  • Entering purchase orders
  • Converting purchase orders to purchase invoices
  • Customizing taxes automatically applied to invoices
  • Paying suppliers (by cheque or EFT)
  • Printing cheque requisitions
  • Purchase invoice aging

Accounts Receivable – 1 hour
(for NV2 Users)

This workshop walks NewViews 2 users through the entire accounts receivable cycle using NewViews. Topics covered include:

  • Adding customer accounts
  • Entering sales invoices
  • Entering sales orders
  • Converting sales orders to sales invoices
  • Entering payments from customers
  • Applying payments to invoices
  • Sales invoice aging
  • Charging interest on overdue accounts

Bank Reconciliation – 1 hour
(for NV2 and NewViews NPH Users)

This workshop does a deep dive into reconciling bank accounts using the Auto Reconcile tool in NewViews. Topics covered include:

  • Downloading bank statements
  • Previewing the results of an auto-reconciliation
  • Identifying and resolving any issues that are flagged by the tool
  • Importing any items on the bank statement that are missing from the bank account (e.g. bank fees or interest charges)
  • Finalizing the bank reconciliation

Using the RGI Calculator – Ont Reg 316/19 with HSA Funding – 1 hour
(for NewViews NPH users)

This workshop takes a comprehensive look at using the RGI calculator in NewViews NPH and highlights changes when using the new, simplified RGI rules (i.e. Ont Reg 316/19 vs Ont Reg 298/01). Topics covered include:

  • Adding new RGI items for members/tenants
  • Adding RGI details for each household (household composition and relationships, income, utilities and additional charges)
  • Displaying and printing RGI calculations

Customizing Templates for Form Letters and Notices – 1 hour
(for NewViews NPH Users)

This workshop shows participants how to customize the templates included with NewViews for Non-Profit Housing to generate form letters and notices. Topics covered include:

  • Adding your logo and/or organization name
  • Reformatting the template to suit your preferences and/or fit your letterhead
  • Changing the wording of the form/notice
  • Adding additional merge fields that are required and/or removing those that are not needed

Custom Analysis in NewViews 2 – 1 hour
(for NV2 Users)

This workshop takes an in-depth look at how to use the Custom Analysis view to create and save customized analyses of any report. Topics covered include:

  • Accessing the Custom Analysis view
  • Adding and defining specific types of columns (amount, difference, sum, percent change, percent of, percent of account, actual minus budget, budget minus actual)
  • Customizing column headings, including titles
  • Saving Custom Analysis views

Using Timecard Payroll in NewViews – 2 hours
(for NV2 and NewViews NPH Users in Canada)

This workshop takes participants through the entire payroll cycle using NewViews Timecard Payroll (i.e. employee wages are allocated to different cost centres or programs). Topics covered include:

  • Adding employees
  • Understanding pay codes for earnings and deductions
  • Allocating/expensing hours to programs or jobs
  • Processing timecard payroll
  • Paying employees by cheque or EFT
  • Vacation pay
  • Printing payroll reports
  • Paying government withholdings
  • Printing T4 slips and summaries
  • Generating ROEs

Using Cash Payroll in NewViews – 2 hours

This workshop takes participants through the entire payroll cycle using NewViews Cash Payroll (i.e. all employee earnings are expensed to a wage account on the Income Statement). Topics covered include:

  • Adding employees
  • Understanding pay codes for earnings and deductions
  • Processing cash payroll
  • Paying employees by cheque or EFT

  • Printing payroll reports
  • Paying government withholdings
  • Printing T4 slips and summaries
