Click on the row displaying the item to delete and select edit delete and click Delete Item.

You have misunderstood.
I am not trying to delete a single entry in a ledger. I am trying to delete a Database Explorer WINDOW that was created from the Object Menu/Window/New Database Explorer.
There is no Edit Delete on the Master Explore menu.
Click on the X button on the top right corner of the window that you wish to close.. Once clicked, you will be prompted to confirm that you want to delete this window from the database.
