Just went to print something and found out I need Excel which I dont have. It might be a good idea to add Excel to the System Requirements for NV2 so it is not such a shock.
I tried printing to a file but it still wanted Excel. Why cant the file simply be an Excel file without calling Excel and importing it. This would allow those of us that are using the far superior OpenOffice 2.0 (which is totally free) to print without spending an additional few hundred dollars.
The 2.0 version of OpenOffice converts to and from all Microsoft Office formats flawlessly.
On the F.A.Q. page at http://www.qwpage.com under NV2 for Windows we do state that in the initial release of NV2 we will be printing through Microsoft Excel. This is under features.
It would have been nice if we could have used OpenOffice or StarOffice but the interface and documentation to access either from a third party like NV2 isn’t available.

Martin
Martin there is an SDK with documentation and an example of linking from external programs to the spreadsheet at:
Also since OpenOffice uses the LGPL licensing I would bet you would be able to do a whole lot more with the UI for building templates while maintaining full compatability with Excel.
Thanks. We’ll look into it.
