Hello John,

The File > Backup command backs up the database that it is run from.

If you are issue File > Backup from a workstation, the current workstation is backed up. If issued on the server, the server.nv2 file is backed up. If you are in an application database and File > Backup is issued the application database is backed up.

I suggest that you perform database utilities at least one a week on every application database that you use. You can automate database utilities via batch files which allows you to perform database checks, repairs and reorganizations at set times using the windows task scheduler. See the Newviews Manual > Appendix D – Addvanced Topis > Batch Files for more details. This feature was introduced in version 2.16.
