Is there anyway you can let people join this forum (NV1) Without having to send emails?
When people have to send an email, wait a few days, then check back
– they lose interest very quickly.

Yes – open up the joining priviledges to allow anyone to create a login.
With that comes tons of spam, porn, etc. I’ve been advised by people that know that this is what will happen, and that option is definately out.
I’m not aware that the wait is that long to get a login though – it should be a nearly same-day thing.

Then a blurb should be on the home page on How Join?
And / OR at least let non members browse (NV1) in read only?
When looking at other forums – I expect to have the ability to “browse”
When only “browsing” requires a login – then I don’t – because I don’t need the extra junk mail too !
The internet is a part of the world where “instant gratification” is almost expected

Joining is very easy
I think there should be some type of controlApril 5, 2004 at 1:50 pm #12508
Joining – Perhaps there should be some control – but what I am suggesting – is to let anyone browse or read (NOT Write) messages.

David: Guess the question is Why non-nv users?
Currently there are not many NV users browsing the forum, which I’d like to see alot more of.
I’ve told many people and the e-mail process is not a concern.April 7, 2004 at 3:45 am #12511
Yes, a good question
but if you’re not a NV user, there is not much point of joining – and even less likely if you have to “request a login”
Other (NV) users might be more interested if they could browse – without having to join. Usually joining any form means getting a bunch of new junk mail and perhaps the users think the same of this one.
