Has anyone had a problem opening NV.EXE after downloading the latest security patch from Microsoft?
I am using XP Professional and everything has been fine until today. The only thing I can think of is the patch I downloaded on the weekend.
I have it set to Win 95 compatibility.
It tries to open (I can see the DOS shell for a split second) and then just disappears. The Task Manager doesn’t show it is running. When I try it from the DOS shell it says NV.CFG is already loaded.
I don’t know enough about REGEDIT to play with it and there’s nothing in SYSEDIT that I can see.
Any clues would be appreciated.
Audrey
And did you find a working solution?
You could try to delete the nv.cfg
And / Or remove the attributes from the nv.exe, and data?.nv files
its sounds like the system is holding the file open, after a crash. Normally rebooting the computer solves this problem.
Changes to the Registry ARE NOT required to fix this problem.
