While it’s not a pop-up calculator, you can actually type mathematical equations in the amount field boxes.
Example:
5.35+3 will produce the result 8.35.

The new regulations do not come into effect until December 2006. We will have a solution before then.

Your username and password hasn’t changed. Ensure you are not using uppercase or that you didn’t make a typing error. The user name and password in your email are still valid.

CGoldenParticipantHi David.
The filename you gave is actually a build with “service pack 1” applied already. You can tell what service pack is installed by examining the filename you download from us. The “nv2.0.1….” is the clue. The first build we released was “nv2.0.0….”. The next build placed on the web with a service pack installed will have the name “nv2.0.2…”.
Hopefully that clears up any confusion you had regarding this. When you download new builds, you do not need to re-register the product.
CGoldenParticipantHi Ron..
From the Home Document (where you see NewViews Accounting and Today’s Date at the top) cursor down to PROCEDURES. /Document Expand on Procedures. Now do /Go Item and in the box that appears (with “Procedure to go to” at the top) type PAYRUN. Hit
on it when you find it. Now do /Edit Delete to remove it. This will remove the procedure that is/was used for processing payroll. The UPDPROCS procedure will continue now and not prompt you about payroll.
CGoldenParticipantAre you running from a shortcut on your desktop that you created? What is the command line you are executing to start NewViews (EG: C:nvnv.exe)? Also you said you installed the 1.41 disks. What version of 1.41 is printed on the diskette label? 1.41 by itself is an upgrade to 1.40 and 1.40 must be installed first for it to run. Versions 1.41a and 1.41b, and 1.41b procedure library 12 followed afterwards and did not require a previous installation.
Also, is the error occuring during the install or after it’s installed and you are trying to start the program?

CGoldenParticipantWhat was the exact error message you received?
If it was something similiar to “your system is unsuitable for running MS-DOS programs”, there is a workaround available on Microsoft’s site. We can also email you the same workaround, it this is the error. It’s actually ALL MS-DOS programs that won’t run if that is the error you are recieving.
If it was an error that said “an application has tried to directly access the disk”, then you have Fast Access set to ON in the NewViews shell menu (where you see BOOKS, BACKUP BOOKS, etc.). You would go to OPTIONS there and hit
on fast access to change the setting to NO. Post Edited (03-09-05 13:08)
CGoldenParticipantHi Walt.
When I asked before about this warning, I was told that the only reason it’s even displayed is that some users may choose to not bother bringing over this extra information if it’s a procedure that is no longer used/needed. I had a user with the same warning call me and they chose to delete the procedure rather than bother dealing with it in NV2. It’s all the user’s choice. You can leave it and ignore the warning or delete the procedure(s) that give you the warning before exporting if you never plan to use it again. I guess the reason for the warning was just that they were trying to bring it to a user’s attention, but I can appreciate why you were concerned/puzzled.

CraigCGoldenParticipantWGray:
In response to your question, I went to the programmers and asked them why we are exporting things that will not be used in NV2. Here are the responses which answer your question:
1) Everything is exported so there is no chance of losing/leaving anything behind.
2) We need all the procedure settings from procedures like SETUPS, SETUP, Payroll procedures, etc..
3) 3rd Party procedures may have stored data in the notes/records views and if you write (or hire someone to write) scripts to do what the original procedure did, this information is accessable to you in NV2.
I hope this makes it more clear why we are exporting it all rather than being “selective”.
