ModeratorWhat error message are you receiving? Is the path to the books correct? Is there a datad.nv file located in the target folder?
You could restore your most recent backup but I suggest that you do not over write the current books.

ModeratorSubfolder your wage expense accounts that you wish to pick from into a folder called Wages. For example, under NewViews > Account > Expense click on the Accounts tab button and select Folder Management. Create a new line called WAGES as the name and under type select Folder (F3) with a description of Wage Expenses.
Move all of your applicable wage expense accounts to the WAGES folder by pressing F3 under the folder column of the account and select Folders > Expense > Wage Expenses. Double click on Wage Expenses to select.
You can use Tools > Fill Column to quickly select the accounts applicable to move to the Wage Expenses folder by blocking accounts.
Once done, change your timecard pick root to
/OBJECT/NEWVIEWS/ACCOUNT/EXPENSE/Wage Expenses

ModeratorThere is a problem performing block copy > save to the clipboard and then block copy/paste > load from clipboard in another another application database and then performing paste. The first column total to’s do not get pasted although they do appear in the Block Paste preview screen.
Total to columns 2 through 4 do get pasted. This also occurs when selecting save to file and load from file.
This problem does not occur within the same application database.
This problem will be fixed in service pack one of 2.17.

ModeratorHi Thomas,
The reason for this is that the total accounts do not exist in the target application database. I suggest that you first copy the General Ledger / Trial Balance Report first which should contain most of the posting and Total Accounts.
Depending on the structure of the source application database, you should block copy / paste the root reports and then copy / paste the seconday reports to avoid the total to problem you have described.
A method for creating an existing application database structure to a new target application database is being considered and will be available in a future release of NewViews. It will not be ready for the upcoming release for 2.17 but I will again mention this for inclusion to NewViews.

ModeratorI have attempted to duplicate your problem and cannot. I’ve tried on three Windows 7 machines testing the speed between the Vista and XP compatibility levels with no differences in performance and duplicating the error message you have described.
I suspect that there is a problem with the installation of Office 2007 on your system which is why you are changing the compatibility level. Perhaps you should reinstall Office 2007 on your system.

ModeratorI have managed to duplicate this in 2.16.3 and in the alpha version of 2.17. This is a difficult error to fix but I will see if we can stop the endless loop problem for 2.17.

ModeratorThomas.
The caseware script has not been finalized yet. We are currently awaiting a response from caseware to complete the script. I’ll see if I can get it completed for a service pack for 2.17.

ModeratorHi John,
You can perform File > Backup in the application database in mutiuser. The backup target is the folder/directory where the application database (the books) exist. Check the rights of the user under System > User > The User under the Options button tab to verify the Multi-user Backup status.
Yes. The scheduled tasks can be run when the server is running and the books are not being accessed by user workstations.

ModeratorReview your Payroll Withholdings account settings for the employee and the employer Withheld accounts with the employer accounts set for the Payruns ( Payruns > Settings) and the employee total to accounts for CPP EI and TAX (or FICA MEDI FIT and SIT if USA Payroll).
I suggest that when you issue Tools > Pay Withholdings that you save the settings for each separated payroll by clicking the new button and save the Current Settings name to a unique separated payroll name.

ModeratorHello John,
The File > Backup command backs up the database that it is run from.
If you are issue File > Backup from a workstation, the current workstation is backed up. If issued on the server, the server.nv2 file is backed up. If you are in an application database and File > Backup is issued the application database is backed up.
I suggest that you perform database utilities at least one a week on every application database that you use. You can automate database utilities via batch files which allows you to perform database checks, repairs and reorganizations at set times using the windows task scheduler. See the Newviews Manual > Appendix D – Addvanced Topis > Batch Files for more details. This feature was introduced in version 2.16.

ModeratorRestore a workstation backup or create a new workstation file by closing NewViews and then rename the file workstation.nv2 to old_workstation.mv2 using windows explorer and then double click on your NV2 Workstation Icon, This will prompt you to create a workstation.nv2 file. Click cretate and close the NV2 manual display.
In the new workstation press the insert key and under file select the target database file and press F3 under state to open the application database. You will be prompted to perform a default setup. Click setup.
