The problem is not the Hours, but the Deductions. They want to ensure that specific items and amounts to be deducted are correct. Unfortunately the deductions vary from pay period to pay period and that’s why they want to Confirm the cheque before accepting it.

I’ve just run the Notes Payroll and it works fine. However, I prefer to have the option of Confirming each paycheque before proceeding to another. My clients (who’s payroll averages 60 employees) usually have many Deductions and it’s better to view the calculations, rather than having it run through all employees on a particular report. If you make a mistake, then you are deleting calculations and changing the cheque numbers.

I always try to find and use a simple solution. When that does not work I call Bob and usually he has a simplier or the technical solution.

I had to go back to my notes to review the Notes method of entering payroll. I don’t use that method, so will have to guess why you are having the problem. Ususlly if an employee payroll is ignored it’s because you are attempting to calculate payroll for a Terminated Employee (one where you have run PRTROE). Know idea why it would skip random employees who have not been terminated, unless your input info does not match the Earnings for those employees.

    Questions:

    1. Why bother with this method of inputting hrs?

    2. What do you feel are the advantages?

    3. How many employees do you have and are your running more than one department (or have more than one Payroll report)?

I’ve known about the Net Use command for network printers and never even thought to apply it to a usb printer. Nice to know Bob.

I’m finding that DOS commands (even the simple ones) are quickly been forgotten by most people. New users don’t even know that there is such a thing as dos.

    BBlount:

The only way I know to have NV print to a USB printer is to use one of the print programs designed for that purpose. There are three that I know of and one is discussed in this forum (go into CONFIGURING PRINTER).

The one discussed in this forum was written by David Eholnikof a NV Consulatant and the program works fine.

    Hi David:

I found the installation very easy, but would suggest the following:

    1. Have it create an Icon on the Windows desktop

    2. Have it default to “Monitor On”

    3. Set the timer to default to the Minimum delay before checking folder and printing.

    Did she try the @CDDR6

? It works and is a simple method to get the e-mail address on a template.

I’ve got an HP 2175 usb printer connected and have just printed financial stmts from NV.

Did you setup nvPRNq and define where it’s to find nv documents? In addition you must change your Print Options Filename to something like:

    C:NVQUEDOCU.PRN

The c:nvque is default directory where nvPRNq finds the documents

The DOCU.PRN is telling nv to print to the filename

The other problem with NVC process is the Edit Safety is ON and cannot be turned off (accept for single transactions). Same with the Edit Reconcile feature.

NV process also provides access to any number of books not just one set as David mentioned.

    Hi David:

Can you reduce the 10sec dalay, when using nvPRNq, before the printing actually starts?

What version of Windows are you using? If Win98 go to Network Neighborhood properties and place a YES to Share Printers & Files. Then go to Printers and Right Click your Lexmark printer and Click Share. Give it a name to share as.

Then you should be able to install a new printer on the other computer, select Network printer then Browse to find the Lexmark.

    Should work fine.

Sometimes when you have copied the NV program files to an XP computer you get an error when starting NV. If you click “Ignore” it allows access to NV with no problems. I’ve seen this problem with several computers.

I’ve found that if you re-install NV using your original diskettes the error message is gone.

Sorry that’s the CADDR6 line YOU NEED TO ADD TO THE TEMPLATE, not ADDR8.
