I found what was causing the error. I had another application running that was using Excel. Once I closed the other application, NV worked fine and could print without the error popping up. I apologize, I meant to post this information last night.

The print problem that arose after the installation of 2.00 has returned in 2.05. All attempts to print are met with “0x8002005″ {unknown error}” messages.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Tamara,

You will find NV2 much much slower than NV1, patricularly if you have to pause briefly between data entries. NV2 goes into some sort of disk write routine that is incredibly frustrating. The “type ahead” funtion of NV1 doesn’t work well with NV2 because “typing ahead” only works if you stay within one window.

In a typical hour of data entry, you will be waiting half of that time for NV2 to finish its disk writes and restore you to data entry mode.

On the plus side, when NV2 crashes with a bug error, you don’t lose much because of the frequent writes to disk.

My help>about menu says that I am using 2.05 Service pack 1. Since I can actually print, there isn’t much doubt that the version displayed in help>about is correct.

The original database was created with an earlier version but when I opened it after installing 2.05, 1; the program performed a database update.

thanks for the info about journals

Thank you. I shall look forward to the patch with simian intensity.

I probably should start a new thread for this question but is there a way to get the notes to print on the same report as an account report? In the good old days of NV1, there used to be a choice to have the notes appear as either footnotes or imbedded within the report itself.

    Thanks

Where would I find the service Pack 1 update to v 2.05 that was to be available today?

Thank heavens. Can you advise whether the data I’ve entered using 2.05 will still be retrievable after the update. I’d hate to waste another night entering stuff and then discover that it is un-usable.

By the way, the scroll function still doesn’t work correctly. In some windows, you can scroll up, but not down. On others, you can’t scroll at all with the mouse.

The print error that arises after installation of v.2.05 says “Error 0x80020005(unknown error)”

Attempts to print all result in this error.

In NV1 there used to be a feature that would allow you to run a procedure that created interest entries in the Account Recievable ledgers. Is this feature available as a script somewhere, and if so, where can I find the script?

    Thanks

The task manager window in WinXp provides very strange information when NV2 runs. Whenever NV2 is on one of the “Long duration” activities, the task manager indicates that the program is “Not Responding”, however the CPU usage graph shows 98% to 100% CPU usage and eventually the task manager reports NV2 is running.

My v. 204 in fact, did install. It left the “Installing nv2.exe” message on the screen so I had assumed that it was still beavering away at the task.

A “more precise description of the time delays”. Well, doing data entry, in an hour’s worth of input, 43 minutes of that were spent waiting for the data disk writing operations to finish so that I could enter another piece of data. (Just because I am perverse, I actually put a stopwatch on it.) The “type-ahead” function only works if I am in the same window so, in most cases, I can’t simply type ahead and hope that NV2 finishes whatever it is doing with the disk writes.

If I type a new data entry immediately, the input responsiveness stays active but if I pause, I watch my shoes depreciate before it will let me enter the next item.

The scroll mouse seems to only work going down, it won’t scroll up.

I am guessing that somewhere in the manual I could find this, but I wish to delete columns in a Custom Report. I can’t figure out how to do this.

If you could give me a hint I’d appreciate it.

My other question is: When I issue a print command, is there a way to specfify a sheet number that the report will go to on the Excell spreadsheet? For example, could I print the GL to sheet 1, the Income Statement to Sheet 2, and other reports to other sheets on the same spreadsheet?

    Thanks

Thank you for the response. I was pleased to see that the speed has improved dramatically now that the indexes and windows have been established for my accounts.
