    Also, I made another test.

If I edit the notes, saves them and then change the “State” field in Logins Menu from open to closed the explorer does not disappear.

The explorer disappears when I issue “File -> Exit NewViews”

    I am running 2.14 SP 5.

I only use one Datbase Explorer. The baisic one created from day one, from 2.00.

I am not running in multiuser. I am always running one set of books at a time.

I just opened a different set of books, selected the top /OBJECT went to the notes view, entered some notes, selected File -> Exit NewViews – Alt-X and it worked fine.

I then went back to my regulat books, did the same and lost the explorer. It is strange as I just reorganized that set of books recently. Would I need to do it again?

And the problem only occurs when using the notes under /OBJECT, nowhere else.

    I restored the workstation.nv2 file

I looked to see if the notes I had entered were still there and yes they were.

I exited and lost the explorer.

I restored again the workstation.nv2 file.

I removed the notes and copied them under the /ACCOUNT folder exited, and the explorer was gone again.

I restored again the workstation.nv2 file.

I went into the books. I did not do anything and I exited. And everything was fine.

I made of new copy of workstation.nv2, since that one is good now. Went back, looked at the notes and exited. It was fine.

Back to the books, edited the notes. Exited and it worked again. The notes are now located in hew /ACCOUNT folder.

Went back to /OBJECT – Notes. Entered a few lines. Exited. And “The axplorer disappeared”.

Restored the workstation.nv2 again. Removed the notes under /OBJECT, exited. The explorer was gone.

Restored the workstation.nv2 again. Went back. Exited. It is fine.

So, it looks like placing or editing notes under /OBJECT is making the explorer disappear in my books.

I have done that already, but there are 2 problems:

    1) It is true I can use for example lines 8 to 11 to remit the PPIP, but the desription remains for EI and cannot be changed

    2) I cannot add a new deduction for the FSS

All remitted accounts are set to /GENERAL

I have made my payment to the government and I have recorded the transaction manually. It would have been impossible if the accounts had been set to TOTAL.

    All my accounts are created.

It is the command under “Tools > Pay Withholdings” that does not recognize the fact that I have some other accounts to remit from.

If you want I can send Print Screens to show what I mean.

I guess I did not express myself clearly.

I already have a Payroll setup in Ontario.

The Quebec payroll was added recently. And I have created all the needed accounts. And the payrun works fine.

But when I issue Tools > Pay withholdings I can only get to record properly the Federal part of the payroll.

The Pay withholdings settings does not have the proper accounts (line 8 to 17)

It has EI, CPP/QPP and Tax.

But for the Quebec Payroll I would need

    QPP
    PPIP
    FSS
    Tax

Exempt from PPIP is set to no

    Province of employment says PQ

I tried to look at every codes possible and I cannot see anything wrong anywhere.

Is there a sample payroll available where I could try to compare the various settings?

I have been trying to explain what has happened.

I will call “old journal” a journal created prior to 2.09 and “new journal” a journal created with 2.09.

I was copying and pasting a transaction from an old journal to a new journal. This is how the error was triggered.

But, if I copy and paste transactions from and old journal to another old journal, the error does not appear.

    Hope this ca help!

    Yes all tags where set.

What I have done now is to create a new journal and I moved all transactions to the new journal. I now have deleted the old ones. So far it seeme to be working.

I got the same ‘#”$%!”&*’ error again.

The problem is that the error comes up only when trying to exit nv2. And all transactions in the session seem to be lost.

This is not a new journal.

I made a final test, after reopening the books. I entered one empty line in the journal. I tried exiting, and I got the error. I deleted the line, but the error persists.

    Then “Ctrl-Alt-Del”

I thought pressing “F9” was the equivalent of Go X.

I was able to go back to the books. the last transaction entered was not there.
