Will ATYPE pick up the closed accounts regardless of where the accounts are located when you block the consolidated item?

Lets say you have an account called TE.T which is the Total of all program expenses on the consolidated report. If we block just this one account will it correctly define all the expense accounts which total to TE.T regardless where they are located?

When you run GETLIB it will show you which version is being installed.

    Dmitri:

What accounting program are you trying to import into?

There are a couple other options:

    1. Try PRTACCTS. This procedure will print transactions for selected date range. You can select to start with the Previous Closing Balance or a Zero starting balance. Using this procedure you would Block reports from Home

    2. The other option is to try the EXPALLTR procedure. This procedure will copy all transactions for a selected date range. It does not give you the option of starting with the Closing Balance. This procedure will automatically search for every transaction entered for the dates selected.

Does anything happen when you press just the / key?

When going through the Windows setup, if you change the default setting from “United States” to “Canada” the keyboard will not recognize the / key in NV.

Only solution I know is to Re-Install Windows and leave the default as US.

Once you have purchased NV2 you will be able to convert as many nv1 books as you desire, whenever you want to.

Licenses only determine how many different users can access the same set of books.

How much of the data do you want? For just the closing balances you could print the Trial Balance to a file then import the file in excel.

Why did you stop using the NV payroll? Unless you have an outside company doing Payroll I’d consider NV payroll. Even with the outside firm you still have to do a Journal entry to disburse and allocate entries.

The NV cash payroll is extremely easy to use though limited if employees work in different departments. That’s when the Accural payroll is great. It also allows for Job Costing allocation.

With WinXP if you get the error CloseIgnore (and selecting Ignore works), this is a common error with WinXP and usually occurs when you Copy the NV program files from your old computer (or from a backup) to the new computer.

I’ve always been able to resolve the issue by Installing NV (just the program files) from the original diskettes onto the WinXP computer. Suggest you delete all existing files from the directory before re-installing.

The other time where NV would not work in XP was because of an Internet or email virus. NV would not even start and the error was “MS-DOS 16bit program will not start”. Martin found the fix by re-installing the CONFIG.NT & AUTOEXEC.NT files from the WinXP disk. If this is the case call Martin and he will fax you the instructions.

Interesting point. When I tried the /WR it was on a Blank Notes screen. When there was text /WR did seem to split the text (not the screen). The /DL did fix the problem.

    Added to my NV notes.

David is probably correct that reorg may help, but it’s strange that a “couple” of books have the problem. Not sure what kind of damage to the database would cause that kind of problem.

Change the Macro to ~WR rather than ~DO. Actually WR dosen’t actually do anything in NV, but if it fixes your problem so be it.

When you are at the NV Shell, go to Options and check to see that the Screen Size is 25 Line Display. You would only change this if you are running in a Windows screen and want NV to be larger.

Is the your screen split Vertically or Horizontially?

Are you running the NV in Full Screen or a Window screen?

    Assume you mean’t / d v n.

I’ve never seen that happen on any system. Suggest you try this. Write the following macro:

    In procedures press Insert
    Call procedure NOTEV
Expand into the procedure and on the Procedure View type:
~DV”N”. ~DO (this will get rid of the split screen)

Then bring up the FKEYS (/ G R) and on Shift F1 type NOTEV

To access the Notes View on a ledger hold Shift and press F1

The POS system is called SmartVendor. My client uses the program with her register and scanner. At the end of the day the program creates a Batch File which is imported into NV. This disburses the sales and inventory info (summary) to various accounts and reconciles with the daily deposit.

Don’t have the info available but there is a POS which does interface with NV. I’ll get the name and post it.

I’ve been assured that QW Page has maintained a list of the registered users entitled to the free version of NV2 when it comes out. I don’t believe it was an automatic upgrade for all NV1 users, only those purchasers who received the coupon and registered the product.

Anyone who has visited their Web Home page recently would have noticed the New Look and the Release Date of Feb 215 of NV2.

Pricing of the new product is also listed for those interested in the Multiuser costs.

There are still many printers which have a Parallel port, both Laser and Dot Matric.

For Dot Matric I like the Okidata 320I

For the Laser suggest HP1300, or Lexmark 232E
Wanted to add HP1320 and Lexmark T420D, both have parallel ports and therefore can be used by NV1.

As QW mentioned in some of the posts you can assign a network printer to LPT1 by using the “net use lpt1: \(network)(printer name)”

As for switching, I’d wait till the program is fully functional and tested. As it stands you will notice a considerable difference from NV1 and I doubt you would be able to get the same productivity output.
